Isn't it gorgeous?!

I have this image in my mind of a “mom tool belt”, I’ve been thinking about making one for a while now.  I got the idea off of the Good Housekeeping July 2007 issue of “Good(enough)”, where they took a bucket  and fastened a canvas tool belt to it with carabiner clips to make a mobile potting station for gardening—how great is that!?  I would have put the picture on here, but it wouldn’t let me save it.  If interested, click on the link and it will take you to that article.

Well as much of a green thumb as I try to have, I’m a bit more of an “indoor girl”.  Don’t get me wrong, I LOVE the outdoors- I live in beautiful Colorado- I just am not really the dig-in-the-dirt type. Although I must say I am TRYING to grow herbs from the indoors right now (about half of them survived).  Anyway, I digress, as I was reading this article I thought “this is what I need for indoors!”  I’m constantly putting things at the bottom of the stairs to go up, and vice-versa.  I need a place to carry supplies!  So, as I kept this article waiting for the perfect idea, I’ve noticed how popular aprons are these days!

I’m no pro when it comes to the sewing machine, in fact I have to be sure my husband is close at hand when I decide to take on the beast in case she decides to go crazy on me.  Yes, my husband, and no, he has no background in sewing… I know, pathetic… Regardless, I’m on the search for FREE apron tutorials– here are some favorites that I’ve found—so cute!

This one from Real Simple doesn’t include a sewing machine, it could be a possibility for me.  Cute dish towel and ribbon!, I love how it uses the whole 1 yard of fabric– no waste!

Craftsylish has a great pattern using cloth napkins and ribbon.  She promises it takes less than an hour!

Whoopsie Daisies did one with two vintage pillowcases, including 2 pockets—The pockets make it actually useful!

Happy To Be Called Mommy did this full-length apron with one pocket.  I like the fuller coverage look, but think I might make the waist line up higher, to make it more contemporary looking.

A Feathered Nest was the winner for me though.  I LOVE the shape, very slimming and so “in“.  She has a lot of cute, cute ideas on here!

I think I’ll add a pocket though– brave, I know…
